Meals of Hope
This agency, whose Executive Director and member of St. Monica’s is Steve Popper, packages nutritious meals which are distributed by its accredited food bank partners to people in need of food. We supports Meals of Hope in various ways: volunteering at Food Pantries, volunteering to pack backpacks for elementary students and participating in Holidays Without Hunger on Christmas Eve morning each year. Members donate grocery items weekly in our “Take Your Can to Church” program. Contact: Steve Popper.
St. Matthew’s and Immokalee Friendship House
Their mission is to provide housing for the homeless, food for the needy, and an opportunity to change lives in a spiritual environment that is both compassionate and disciplined. In addition to avid support of the annual Golf-A-Thon, members of St. Monica’s also prepare soup which we deliver each month in our “Soup of the Month” program. Contact: Tom Hughes
In the fall St. Monica’s parking lot hosts 20 to 25 vendors that sell vegetables, fruit, food, jewelry and many other items. Proceeds help boost St. Monica’s general budget, and this service helps small local merchants feed their families. Contact: Tom Hughes
Guadalupe Soup Kitchen – Immokalee
We help set up and serve a hot lunch to the neediest men, women and children at the Guadalupe Soup Kitchen in Immokalee. We serve on the 2nd Thursday of every month and need at least 8 people to volunteer. Meet at the Church at 9:45 AM to carpool. Hope you can help us serve. Contact: Sandy Kilmon
