From book groups to Bible studies, St. Monica’s offers a range of weekly learning opportunities for its adult members.
Education for Ministry [EfM]
This group meets on Tuesdays from 7-9:30 p.m., beginning in September. EfM is a program of Adult Christian Formation developed and sponsored by the School of Theology at the University of the South, Sewanee. It is a four-year program, with registration taking place each year. The cost is $350, to cover books and materials. Our group has members of several parishes, mentored by trained EfM graduates.
Wednesdays at Six
All are invited to join us at 6 pm for dinner. The program begins about 6:30 pm. The topics are varied and always interesting – chosen by the group; we often use a CD series or movies to spark learning and discussion.
Faith in Fiction meets on the 2nd Monday of each month at 4 p.m. The group chooses novels to read and discuss. The question we ask is “Where is God in this story?” Discussions are lively and stimulating.
Men’s Bible Study – Men of St. Monica’s and friends gather at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesdays, with optional breakfast out afterwards. This group uses the lessons for the upcoming Sunday as their study texts. All men are welcome!
Friday Morning Bible Study – Our Friday morning Bible study is led by Rev. Kathy at 9:00 am. Attendees study a selected book or set of passages over a period of several weeks, learning historical background and context along with the message covered. All are welcome!
