Dear Friends,

I invite us all to take a moment and to remember where we have been in the past few years. We have been confronted with enormous challenges – transitions in leadership, waves of a pandemic, and personal loss. Nonetheless, St. Monica’s continues to be a place where people come to love, a place that is a presence to the community, a place where Christ’s light shines.

Despite challenges, the prayer and persistence of the community of St. Monica’s have allowed new life to begin to thrive. New people are joining again. New ministries are growing again. Children are appearing again. New partnerships are flourishing. We are even in the early stages of starting a ministry for Spanish-speaking people. And so many of our parishioners come here and describe our community as such a life-giving place. In other words, the Spirit is moving among us!

At the same time, we have much to build. I believe that once this current wave passes, we will build more groups where people can grow and share, and we will take part in more opportunities for community building. We will deepen our sense of mission, taking part in God’s healing of the world and bringing us together at the Table. I invite you all to share in this vision and to shape how the vision takes form.

I invite you to consider committing yourselves to this “Time to Build.” With your generosity, we can sustain our ministries and change our community. I believe that you will find yourself changed also.

Please pray about how you would like to be a part of how the Spirit is moving here at St. Monica’s and return your pledge cards by January 30th.

If you ever have any questions about our work together, or if I can be of any help to you as you seek to be faithful to whom God has called you to be, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me.

Thank you.

In Christ,
Fr. Jonathan Evans
