“Dr. Ron” carries his wealth of over 40 years of musical performance and leadership to his ministry at St. Monica’s as the Director of Music. He earned his Bachelor of Music, graduating Magna Cum Laude from Chapman University in California. His graduate work in organ performance and church music studies led to a Master of Music from the University of Southern California, with departmental honors. He went on to receive a Doctor of Musical Arts at USC, focusing on choral conducting, music literature and development, vocal pedagogy, church music, and music history.

In our regional music community, prior to coming to St. Monica’s, he was Director of Music at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Marco Island. He served as the founding music director, Opera Naples, conductor/artistic director, The Bach Ensemble, Naples, and choral conductor/assistant conductor, Naples Orchestra and Chorus. His portfolio of performances (organ, harpsichord, piano, choral conducting) is impressive as is his modesty about his competencies, including a broad range of teaching experience in voice, music theory, sacred music, music history, and conducting as a professor at well-known institutes of higher learning in the USA and abroad. Ron is a member of the American Guild of Organists and is Life Member, Pi Kappa Lambda, Honorary Music Society. His The Volunteer Choir: Foundation for Music Ministry Success is published by Pastoral Music Pres.

When he took up the music ministry at St. Monica’s in the spring of 2016, his professional and personal enthusiasm infused our music program with a brand of the Godliness of beautiful sacred music into our worship and liturgies that have inspired volunteer choir singers, vocal and instrumental soloists, handbell ringers, guest instrumentalists and congregational singers to actively participate as an integrated part of our Episcopal liturgical and spiritual experience.
