Laura has served as the Parish Administrator at St. Monica’s Episcopal Church since 2020 and as the Bookkeeper since 2021. In these roles, she manages the administrative, financial, and operational functions that support the daily life of the parish and help ensure the church operates smoothly in service to its community.
Laura was raised in the Catholic tradition and later developed a broader, non denominational perspective on faith, shaped by an appreciation for the many ways people experience and express their spirituality. As a former military spouse for nineteen years, she lived in multiple regions and encountered diverse cultures and church communities. These experiences shaped her understanding of faith, service, and connection, and help her relate easily to people from all backgrounds.
After her daughter graduated high school and as her son entered high school, Laura returned to school while working full time. She earned her Associate degree in Business Administration and Management from Fayetteville Technical College in North Carolina. While employed in the college registrar’s office, she took full advantage of the free tuition benefit offered to employees, allowing her to complete her degree without taking on student debt. She graduated with honors and later joined the staff at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Greenville, North Carolina as the Parish Secretary, where she served for three years and gained valuable experience within the Episcopal Church.
Laura values clear communication, organization, and a welcoming office environment. Outside the office, Laura and her husband, Jim, enjoy living in Florida and being part of a welcoming community. Their two dogs, Hunter and Mercedes, join Laura at St. Monica’s each day and are familiar, well loved members of the church office.
Whether stopping by the office or reaching out with a question, Laura is always glad to help and works to ensure each interaction is handled with care and respect.
