The search for a new Rector is a prayerful and thoughtful process guided by the Diocese and led by our Rector Search Committee. The committee is responsible for gathering parish input, preparing our parish profile, reviewing applicants, and discerning the priest God is calling to serve St. Monica’s.
The process generally includes:
- Listening to the parish and gathering feedback
- Preparing the parish profile
- Receiving clergy applications through the Episcopal Church Office for Transition Ministry
- Prayerful discernment and interviews
- Recommending a candidate to the Vestry

Updates from the Search Committee
2025 April 1
St. Monica’s was informed that our Rector would be departing, and initial preparations began for the search for our next Rector.
2026 March 1
During our Parish Annual Meeting, the congregation was informed that the Rector search process had officially begun. The Parish Profile and OTM portfolio have been approved by the Diocese, and the position has been posted.
2026 April 1
The Rector Search Committee continues to meet regularly and remains actively engaged in the search process. We are grateful for their ongoing dedication and ask for your continued prayers as this important work moves forward.
2026 June 15
The search for our next Rector has been placed on pause until further notice. During this time, the Vestry will reflect on the process and determine the best path forward before beginning a new search.
An email with additional details has been sent to the congregation today. We remain grateful for the dedication and for the continued leadership of Rev. Sylvia and Deacon Ken during this transition.
2026 September 14
We are currently working with the Diocese to update our documents and hope to resume our search for our next Rector soon.
2026 September 24
With the approval and guidance of the Diocese, St. Monica’s has officially reopened the search for our next Rector. Our updated Parish Profile and Vocation Hub Profile are now available, and we are welcoming candidates into the discernment process.
We are grateful to our Vestry for their faithful work in preparing for this next chapter in the life of St. Monica’s. We ask for your continued prayers for our parish and for those discerning a call to serve with us. We look forward with hope and trust as we seek the Rector whom God is calling to St. Monica’s.

Gracious and loving God,
we give you thanks for the many blessings you continue
to pour out upon our parish family.
We are deeply grateful for the spirit of openness across our church community,
for the honest heart and wisdom shared during our time of listening,
and for the welcoming home you have built among us.
Thank you for the faithful, gentle care of our interim leadership,
who have guided us through this season with such devotion.
Now, as we open our hearts to the chapter ahead, we ask your Holy Spirit
to guide our search for a new rector.
Grant wisdom and discernment to our Search Committee,
and prepare the heart of the leader you are calling to join us.
Help us to build with joy upon our strong foundation,
and inspire us to walk together as we lead future generations to follow Jesus.
